The Unemployed Shopper

If you've been  following either my other blog, or read my bio; you most likely know that the Obsessed Shopper is unemployed.   Unemployed = no money and no money= little /to no shopping.  I'm sure the sales people at Saks and Bergdorf's are wondering where I am.  (Seriously, I used to frequent these stores on a regular basis during my lunch hour) But alas, it was my choice to be unemployed and therefore I shall not complain about it.  However, if one likes to shop with little to no money one should get themselves to Forever 21 and Alloy.com.
Ahhhh Forever 21.  I love Forever 21 (F21).  If you search hard, you can find great stuff that can pass for slightly more expensive; and everything is always on trend.  At a recent trip to F21, I was impressed with a cable knit sweater I found for 19.80.  It's a long sleeved, taupe, turtleneck sweater that is extremely warm and cozy and looks more than it is.. While, I can't find the exact one I bought at the store; this one online is pretty identical.
Another great place to find lower priced items is Alloy.com.  When I shop online, I always search for unique pieces.  At Alloy.com, I recently spotted the very cute Key to My Heart Necklace.  The necklace is gold colored, 32" long, with tiny keys placed sporadically around it.  Worn with a nice v-neck top, or plaid shirt, it can make any outfit look more put-together.  The necklace is priced at $16.90 (not including shipping and handling.)  But like many online stores, Alloy.com offers free shipping for orders over $75 or more.  While I didn't buy the necklace myself; I saw it on someone in Soho.  Seeing it in person made me covet it so much more!
While F21 and Alloy.com target younger teenage consumers, I think obsessed shoppers of all ages can find items at these stores.  Just look with an open mind and you'll find some great deals. Happy Shopping.

Button Up Your Overcoat

It's that time of year!  No people, I don't mean Christmas!  It's that "It's chilly outside, but not bitterly cold" time of year.  I was in Old Navy looking for some camisoles, when I stumbled upon a fabulous fall-winter transition coat. It's a purple-royal blue color with a ruffled high collar, shiny black buttons, and shortened length. The coat looked much more expensive than it was (on sale for $50); and I had to have it! From the moment I first put this coat on, I've received tons of compliments and many jealous glances.  I'm sorry to write that the purple-royal blue color (officially known as Rosemary Blue) is sold out online in the regular length; but I'm sure it's still available at your local Old Navy. Online, the coat also comes in other colors as well: Black Jack, Heather Grey, and Golden Gate (a red-orange color) and come in three lengths: tall, regular, and petite.  I am planning to get another in Heather Gray because I love the coat that much.  With transition pieces this good,  I can't wait to see what Old Navy has for us in the heart of winter.  Old Navy Women's Ruffle Collar Coat- Heather Gray $59.50

The Winter Wind....

It's getting colder and colder each day.  Which means it's time to step up my moisturizing regimen. I don't know about you, but in these winter months my skin can get super dry and regular moisturizers don't really do it for me.  I've learned the best thing is to add a few drops of Vitamin E oil to my lotion and/or moisturizer. I do this as soon as the the temperature drops to 40 and it always leaves my skin soft and supple all day long.  While others swear by capsules,  I use Origin  (bottled) Vitamin E oil.  It's neat and very simple to use. It's $5.29 and available at Target. Now all I have to do is find a great lip balm and I'm all set.  Origin Vitamin E Oil 12000 IU 2.5oz

Vicki's Best Secret

I recently visited my BFF in Washington, D.C.  Ahhhh D.C.! So beautiful. So historic. So filled with political lies!!! Anyway, we went shopping in good 'ol Georgetown and swung by Victoria's Secret.  One thing I love about Vicki's, is that they are always giving out free stuff. During this particular trip I received a sample of VS Pro: Airbrush FX Face Primer SPF 20.  I figured it would be one of those items that would stay in my makeup bag and I'd never use it. But on my way back home, I was out of face cream and used the primer.  All I can say is....WOW!  Never had my makeup gone on so smoothly and it stayed on the majority of the day.  I am a devoted department store makeup whore; but I will be jumping ship to Victoria's Secret for the primer.  VS Pro: Airbrush FX Face Primer SPF 20 @ $14

***Please note they might not be giving out free samples anymore.  Check Victoria's Secret for details***

Running around town....

Today I had a job interview and I was completely prepared, or so I thought. Resume..check! References.. check! Fantastic Interview Outfit....well not so much. While I did have a great suit on, there was a hole in my tights the size of a pancake  (hmm pancakes.....) The closest store for me to grab tights and make my interview was J.Crew.  I was kind of apprehensive, because I love "the crew" and all, but it can be a bit pricey.  Nevertheless, I bought the "Solid Opaque" tights in black at $16.50 and was oh-so pleasantly surprised!!! They are worth every penny.  They were warm, just a tiny sheer, and went perfectly with my black patent leather pumps.  To my knowledge, they carry them in about four colors and are of a nylon/spandex blend.  Yes, at $16.50 they are slightly more than I'm used to paying; but I believe you get what you pay for. While the interview was less than stellar, my tights made it through the rest of the day without a single run.  I'll be sure to buy another pair when I get my first paycheck.....whenever that might be!!!  J.Crew Solid Opaque Tights
